(Almost) Lost Art of cane preparation. What is a reed to prepare? Simply this is a way to preserve and process the cane for further use and, ultimately, the longevity, cane, or you can prepare to introduce amendments to them, for example, where Reed has been cut unevenly, for example.

I found the "Continued use" above on the grounds that the cane rarely treated before first use. Processed? What does this mean for treatment? Processing data is only what happens to the reed, to change the properties it may have. Even if you just set a new reed for a glass of water, to "soften" them, you're processing. There are other ways to process cane. You can cut them with sandpaper them burn them, rub They seal them with bees wax ... whatever! In this article I will discuss some basic techniques and overall benefits to the preparation of cane and why (almost) lost art should be back to life.

Why work on the reeds? Again, this is quite simple: it saves you money in cash! We all know that scenario, you bought a new box of reeds, you can go through them to find a "good", and that the termination throw anywhere from 25% to 50% (if not more!) just buy reeds. Imagine you spent $ 15 for 10 reeds, and you throw away 5 of them! That $ 3 per cane now! (I used $ 1.50/reed from other trash!) Now it makes sense for you? Throwing $ 7.50! (And by the way, increasing garbage!) Well, after a few decent cane growing ability to prepare can be traced to at least 99% of its cane and DO NOT throw away! Getting down to business!

What will you do first when Reed is too difficult?

They can be sand, sand paper or acrylic glass, reed rush (also known as "Dutch Rush"), or use a cane knife. Sandpaper all know. "Momentum Reed "and" Reed knife "may continue to be our foreign words (depending on how old you are.) Reed rush is a small part of the pipe Bamboo stems very young (I believe I'm alright - could be slightly off), where the "bark" is rough as sandpaper. One rubs the edges of the cane - left, right or left and right side or in the "heart" of the cane - cane to slightly thinner in this area. How do you know when which side? Hold your cane into the light and see which side very less light passes through. Play cane focusing on one side and seeing the response of cane. File the harder side, just a little bit, and then repeat the test. Repeat this process if necessary, until it is "perfect."

"Reed Knife" is a small, specially the knife to cut bamboo. Do not "cut" cane knife, use it to file and scrap, much like grinding. The tool is my favorite! Rush has a knack for Reed squashed in a bag and a concert very fragile. And how ise cane knife and just need to have it sharpened every few months. Both of these dishes should be the expert. If not, ask him where to find them. These tools have fallen out of popularity like over the years, but - I am from the "old school" and I would prefer to use these. In fact, I have "left hand" reed knife! I tried another couple of years back and marketer in the shop swore that something does not exist. Until I showed him my left-handed knife! This tool is worth a try.

2nd What to do When Reed is too soft?

You can use "yet" known cane cutting. This handy tool is used only file @ 10 mm from the tip of the reeds. Of course, you can disable the file more, but I do not advise to do it. You can destroy the cane cutting so many off. And please use a razor. (I know a guy who once used scissors! Ugh!) Again, it clip, test the file again if necessary, but please no more than two times!

Another Reed Tip:

Reeds always packed in boxes, sealed and stored over a long period of time. In order to stay "fresh", they are always treated with carbohydrates as a preservative. Of course, when carbohydrate is in contact with the saliva, begins to "digest" - or "process", rather. Slowly, small microscopic "plants" start growing reed (reed on the flat part is the mouthpiece).

This growth can and will effect how to reproduce your reeds and its longevity. My advice: every few days is simple wipe growth and cane knife and stroking the back of the cane once or twice to remove these growths.Last but not least, have the cane ready to perform for up to four pre-cane.

You can prepare some of the reeds and rotate them in their use. You may be able to get cane in this way for several weeks, and maybe you can use ALL of reed in the box just buy! :-)
